Onset has introduced an MCP server that allows you to manage your changelog directly within conversations using clients like Claude or Cursor. It features OAuth 2.1 authentication for easy access, and all drafts are saved automatically, ensuring nothing is published until you're ready. You can list, edit, and schedule releases, but note that publishing only updates your changelog page without notifying subscribers or posting to other platforms.

Onset now has an MCP server. Connect it to Claude, Cursor, or any MCP client and manage your changelog without leaving the conversation.

It runs over streamable HTTP at https://mcp.onset.io/mcp and authenticates with OAuth 2.1. You sign in once through your browser. There is no API key to generate, paste into a config file, or accidentally commit.

What you can do

  • List and read releases, filtered by project, label, or status.

  • Draft new releases and edit existing ones.

  • Publish immediately, or schedule for a date you pick.

  • Manage subscribers and subscriber lists.

Drafts by default

Everything your assistant creates lands as a draft. Nothing touches your public page until you ask for it, and publishing is a separate step with its own tool call.

So the loop looks like this: ask for a rough release from what shipped this week, read it back, fix the parts that sound wrong, then publish when it reads the way you want.

Publishing through MCP makes the release live on your changelog page only. It does not send subscriber emails or post to Slack and Discord. Publish from the dashboard when you want those to go out.

Getting started

There is a new MCP page in your dashboard sidebar with everything you need to connect. It has one-click install for Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code and Codex, the server URL to copy, and ready-made config snippets for any other client.

Pick your client, sign in when it prompts you, and choose the workspace to connect. Each connection covers a single workspace, and your existing permissions carry over, so the server can only reach what your account can already reach.
